Solar top hat channel is the transition profile in solar racking — and it comes in more sizes than any other racking channel. That variety is exactly what makes the buying decision: one machine that covers the range, or several machines, one per size? Here is how we think about it.
1. The size problem
Top hat channel is designed to work with the solar strut channel system, and projects pull many different hat sizes. Our top hat lines use a cassette structure: a single machine produces 15 different profile shapes with fast changeover. The Bulgarian plant we shipped last year runs two of these machines and covers its full top hat range on two footprints instead of fifteen.
2. Line configuration
The standard line: decoiler, leveler, servo feeder, punch press, main roll forming machine (18 stations), hydraulic system and PLC control. The machine is built on a casting frame with gearbox drive and 22 kW main motor, and it forms at 0–30 m/min.
| Forming stations | 18 |
|---|---|
| Forming speed | 0–30 m/min |
| Main motor | 22 kW |
| Frame | Casting structure, gearbox drive |
| Tooling | Cassette — 15 profile sizes on one machine |
| Electricals | Delta PLC, Yaskawa inverter |
3. Space and delivery
Plan about 25 m × 30 m of factory area for the line with its coil and output handling. Standard delivery is 60 days after contract confirmation, with engineer commissioning on site if you need it.
